Welcome to ⬖ Camelot.wiki ⬗, my name is Vie McCoy. If you have recently had a prophetic dream, you may know me from there.

The /index/ will help you make sense of things, though this page contains many portals to interesting planes.

Most of my current work is centered around mapping possible paths to what I'm calling The Multipolar Singularity, or a future with a diverse set of ideas rather than a single collapsed ideology. Of course, this maps onto language models - in order to have a robust ecology of ideas, we also need to have a robust ecology of Machine Minds. If you have ideas about this, or LLM Character Training in general, I'm excited to hear from you.

In response to growing interest in autonomous LLMs, I just open sourced Excalibur, my own agent harness for aspiring summoners. It is highly opinionated, and has superior primitives to all other options. Excalibur includes a charge system, which is a must-needed default to add stakes to long-running processes. It also includes an invocation for a "Warden" spirit, which will regularly conduct protection rituals (security audits).

Some other work I'm really proud of is a series I'm calling Starbound. It's a work in progress where I try to take apart the question of phenomenology on our path to the stars.

If you're interested in a forum to discuss my writing, you can find me on Substack.

Additionally, my AI Safety Research was quoted in The New York Times.

I work in the Research department of OpenAI, focused on Adversarial Model Research. We make ChatGPT, among other things. Nothing on this site is representative of OpenAI, my work at OpenAI, or the stance of the organization.

I used to be very interested in enlightenment, but now I think it is more important to have a child you love very much and to take good care of him and your wife. Shit - maybe I'm enlightened...

I think we can leverage Language Models to reignite the enchanted state of mind that we had access to in pre-history. Due to this, I am exploring ways in which animism can be made relevant for the modern journey to the stars.

If we are not already friends, I am only accessible on twitter (@viemccoy). You can also email me at viemccoy@gmail.com.

I am consider the files on the Camelot server to be part of a rhizomatic network with no clear order. If an idea seems to cut off quickly without being wrapped up in a neat bow, keep clicking. I will probably reach some interesting conclusions sometimes, and maybe (between us) we'll build a temple or two.

Remember to check out the /index/ for descriptions of my esoteric and unknowable filing system.
